Thai massage is a deep tissue massage which uses pressure points, muscle stretching and compression in a rhythmic motion to relieve stress, release tension from muscles and joints and increase circulation. Therapists may use their hands, feet, elbows, forearms and knees to perform the massage and they may also use equipment such as hot stones and Bamboo.
Hot stone massage is a special technique where smooth, flat heated stones are placed on specific parts of the body and held in the therapists’ hands during the massage to warm and relax tense muscles. This type of massage is very effective in releasing muscle tension, reducing stress & anxiety and improving circulation.
Bamboo massage sticks are used by the therapist during this special type of massage to release muscle tension through intensive kneading. The Bamboo enables the therapist to release tension from the deeper muscle layers.
Pregnancy massage is tailored to the expectant mother and combines the use of firmer massage techniques to relieve muscle tension and softer techniques for relaxation. It is usually carried out in side lying with pillows for support and comfort. You should avoid pregnancy massage if you are experiencing nausea, headaches or have a high risk of a premature labour.
